Health Care – Your Integrative Team

12 Mar

When Dr. Michelle Peris ND invited me to do an interview on the Rebel Health Podcast, I was excited for the opportunity to talk about a subject that I am passionate about – holistic dentistry.

We cover a lot of ground in the podcast including my patient screening process, SMART certification for mercury amalgam removal, mercury vapour, supplementation, insurance, sleep apnea, oral hygiene, and more!

Many interesting topics came up during the conversation and I am going to expand on them here. Give the podcast a listen when you can. For now, let’s talk about the collaborative relationship between doctors and practitioners who offer holistic health care and the desire from patients for their health care to be approached in a holistic way.

Less Do As I Say, More Let Me Explain Why

“There are generations of people who were taught, “Do what you are told.” If your dentist tells you something, you do it. If your doctor tells you something, you do it. If your teacher tells you something, you do it. We started to question this because it wasn’t always working for us.”

-Dr. Agatha Bis

Many people initially visit my practice because they are struggling with a health issue or illness that isn’t being treated properly. They are suffering, not getting any better, or don’t have the answers they are looking for from their doctors. I can relate to this personally, because I too have experienced it.

Not having a solution, or a path towards a solution is no longer acceptable for everyone. And holistic doctors understand this.

Rather than doing what they are told, people are seeking answers for themselves. What’s changed is that people have access to more information and are asking more questions. As a result, belief systems are shifting and more and more people are choosing a holistic approach to care, like holistic dentistry.

Your Integrative Health Care Team

There are a number of medical professionals and alternative care providers that are changing the way they approach patient care. As a holistic dentist, I am one of them. Together, with other holistic practitioners, naturopaths, therapists, and doctors to name a few, we work collaboratively with the common goal of helping you live a healthier, happier life.

Oral health influences overall body health

Many warning signs show up in the mouth first. As a holistic dentist, I am the first line of defence to help prevent larger issues from occurring. As part of an integrative health care system, I can refer you to the appropriate place so that you can get help as early as possible. The goal is to catch problems early.

What can a holistic dentist help with?

You may be surprised to learn what a holistic dentist can help with. Holistic dentistry aims to help patients restore their oral health and overall health in the most natural way possible. A holistic dentist can help with teeth and gum health, cosmetic dentistry, TMJ issues, migraines and headaches, vitamins and supplementation, orthodontics, sleep apnea, preventative care and much more.
