Have you ever heard the expression, “a smile is worth a million words?” A smile symbolizes many different emotions. It can reflect happiness, eagerness, delight, nervousness, pleasure and amusement among many, many others. 74% of our population says the first thing they notice when they meet someone is their smile.
While these statistics reflect the general population as a whole, the alarming effects are seen in our younger generation.
Only 13% of girls between the ages of 10 and 17 are comfortable calling themselves beautiful, while nearly 50% of Canadian girls between the ages of 10 and 17 have avoided social activities because of the way they look.
It’s time to stop ignoring the statistics and start focusing on the facts. 88% of people say that having a beautiful smile would immensely improve their self-confidence, so why not start now?
How to Improve your Smile
Colour:
If the colour of your teeth is bothering you, teeth cleaning or whitening may be a solution for you. While there are different kinds of stains (refer to our previous blog on “Types of Stains”), some stains can be removed with a teeth cleaning and/or teeth whitening.
Crowded/Rotated Teeth:
If the alignment of your teeth is holding you back from smiling, you may be a candidate for braces or clear invisaligners. Between the two solutions, both will result in a straight smile from front to back.
Missing Teeth:
Do you have gaps that can be seen when you smile? Replacement is an option for you. Between bridges, implants or dentures, we will help you to make the right decision for your smile.
