This is the second blog in the series You Can’t Pour From an Empty Cup
Mary is, in some ways, no different than many women I meet. She has raised a family, taken care of her home, taken care of herself on the outside, and seems to have a comfortable life. She also has a secret. Not much of one to those who know her well; she is constantly in pain. But managing with prescription medications, numerous specialists, and even lately the pain clinic, she is told there is nothing anyone can do. In the last couple of years, it’s gotten worse. The neck pain, the jaw pain, the migraines, all combine into one massive threat to the rest of her day, her week, and lately her life. She’s had a CAT scan to rule out a tumour. She’s tried narcotics, anti-anxiety and anti-depressant medication. She sees a chiropractor, an acupuncturist and an osteopath. Massage therapy can sometimes give her a few minutes of relief. She is told this is what happens as you get older. Is it?
I met Mary a few months ago. Her story is so frequent, I am frustrated at the fact that this is what many people suffer with on a daily basis and treatment is kept hidden, a forbidden secret that should not be revealed. After all, why fix someone when you can medicate them on a daily basis? There are a few tests I need to run but I already know that Mary is like many others, and she can be treated, and permanently restored to health. She can be free of pain. She can be free of the constant muscle pull, jaw click, and massive headaches. She does not have a tumour. And the best part, I can show her I can help her before I do anything permanent. Try and find that anywhere else…
Mary’s condition is so very common. TMD (Temporomandibular Disorder), or what people refer to as TMJ, is a very common condition that can cause incredible pain, limitation, and debilitation when it comes to daily life. What most people don’t realize when they reach for narcotics or a CAT scan is that we can help them treat this and restore them to optimal health. We can eliminate the pain… forever. So if you suffer from any of the following:
- migraines
- TMJ pain
- limitation on opening
- lockjaw
- headaches
- Clicking or popping
- Crepitus
- Ringing in ears
- Tingling in fingers
- Facial muscle pain
- Tightness of facial muscles
- “bad” bite
Call us for a consultation, and let us help you end the cycle of pain.
