Mercury vapour is released from dental amalgam fillings when chewing, grinding, clenching, or simply rubbing something against your fillings. Mercury is toxic, it accumulates in the body, and ANY amount of mercury taken into the body is hazardous.
How much mercury is in my mercury amalgam fillings?
Dental amalgam, often referred to as mercury fillings are made up of a mixture of mercury, silver copper, tin, and sometimes zinc. All dental amalgams are 45-55% elemental mercury.
Mercury & Your Health
Dental mercury and its vapour have been scientifically linked to a number of health risks, which demonstrate the danger of dental amalgam mercury fillings.
Individual response to mercury varies, and some of the factors known to potentially impact those exposed to mercury include allergies, diet, gender, genetic predispositions, the number of amalgam fillings in the mouth, and previous exposures to other toxic chemicals.
Scientific studies have identified dental mercury as a potentially causational or exacerbating factor in the following conditions:
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Lou Gehrig’s Disease
- Antibiotic resistance
- Autism spectrum disorders
- Autoimmune disorders
- Cardiovascular Problems
- Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
- Kidney Disease
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Parkinson’s Disease
- Depression & Anxiety
- Reproductive Dysfunction
“Smoking Teeth”: Watch Mercury Vapour Release
The video “Smoking Teeth” by David Kennedy, DDS, has become world-famous for its clear demonstration of mercury vapour. See for yourself, how much mercury vapour is released from dental amalgam fillings.
Protect yourself from mercury vapour exposure
People often say: “it’s not hurting me”, implying that pain is the first sign of trouble.
Waiting until it hurts is not the right time to do something about this problem. That’s kind of like waiting for a heart attack to do something about your high blood pressure or high cholesterol or obesity. The is no ‘pain’ involved with any of those conditions either… until, of course, that heart attack.
“If it’s not bothering me, why change?”
By the time you actually feel pain from your mercury fillings, it’s either an infection or fracture. If your tooth is infected, you will likely need a root canal treatment or extraction, and if there is a fracture, it will likely be a root canal treatment and crown or extraction. Either situation results in expensive and extensive dental treatment, which could have been prevented if the filling was replaced BEFORE it caused pain.
Don’t wait for pain because if you do, it’s too late to do something simple.
Why is the ‘Smoking Teeth’ Video so Important
I used to have mercury fillings in my own mouth.
Many of them, in fact. Most of my teeth were filled with mercury fillings.
When I learned about the risks and health issues with mercury exposure, I had all of my mercury fillings removed and replaced with porcelain. But it was not until I saw the ‘Smoking Teeth’ video that I really felt it was my mission to remove mercury fillings in my patients and make sure I do it safely.
Removing mercury fillings can be done safely
When a biologic dentist follows the SMART method to remove mercury fillings and helps you with a detox program after mercury removal, your exposure is minimized. In fact, if you grind your teeth at night (which many people do and are not even aware of it), you are exposing yourself to mercury vapour more each and every day.
Our office is certified in the safe removal of mercury and we remove it in a specific way to minimize your exposure. We also help you and work with you to detox and prepare your body for the proper elimination of this toxic substance.
